Anyone able to tell me how to get cat urine smell and stain out of a hard wood floor?

Apparently my cat was urinating in the back of a closet and I didn’t know until I cleaned out the closet. I’m pregnant and the closet is in the baby’s room. I refuse to hang anything in there until it is taken care of. There is a black stain and a horrid smell. I realize that one solution is to rip up the floor boards and replace them, but does anyone have any home remedies that I can try before I make my husband do all of the work??? Thanks.

You can try soaking the area with natures miracle… but it’s likely going to have to be replaced.

I hate to say it, but that smell is down in the wood. It is more than likely going to have to be replaced. A few years back, I had some carpet like that and the vet gave us something to help, but it never did remove it completely. I have to believe it is going to be even harder to remove from wood.-

We had two stray cats that we found in the sewer and had put them in an extra bedroom until we could find homes for them. They urinated on the carpet and baseboard. We had to rip up the carpet and put 2 coats of Kilz paint on the sub floor before replacing with new carpet. We removed the baseboards and I scrubbed them with Pine Oil and let them sit in the sun outside to dry. I had to repeat that 8-9 times before the smell went away. We then used clear polyurethane to coat the wood. Every so often when it is humid I can catch a very faint whiff of cat urine smell.

If u use any regular cleaner it sets the smell bc animal urine has enzymes. I had this happen u can go to pet store and get a spray animal urine enzyme remover. U have to saturate the wood with it, but the oder will go. The stain won’t go tho unfortuneately.
