Anyone know how to get this stain out?

My husband didn’t check pockets when doing laundry, and a tiny canister of Vicks Baby Rub (like Mentholatum) went through the washer and dryer. Two pairs of his pants now have blotches all over them. I’ve soaked the pants in OxyClean – no good. A friend suggested he put dish soap on them, but he just put it on there then immediately washed the pants again – should he have let it sit a while? Or does anyone know of anything else that would take this out? Thanks!

The stain is oil based. If you have dried the pants, try taking them to a dry cleaners, dry cleaning helps remove oil. Tell the dry cleaners what got on the pants and that you have washed them. It MAY work.

my mom always scrubbed salt and club soda into it when we got it all over everything when we were little.

Scrub, soak, 20 minute set, wash

Wow the only other suggestion is call a local dry cleaners and see if they have any ideas. I would go ahead and try your friends suggestion using the dish soap. It may just take a few times of soaking the pants in oxyclean.

For difficult stains, I always use that stuff my husband uses to clean his hands after he works on the car—-do you know what I am talking about? I don’t remember the name, there is several brands….but I get it in the automotive section at walmart…I put it on, scrub it in, and everything disappears.

Well, lady. It’s easy to get rid of the blotches from your hubby’s pants. Just try to soak the pants in 100% alcohol for some time, then wash the pants.
