Anyone know of a good chemical to remove tough stains from finished wood?

I have a table that looks really good other than it has some stuck on grease, permanent marker, and sticker residue on it. I am just wondering if someone knows of a chemical that is good for removing these things but will not harm the wood finish. Thanks!

Try vegetable oil. There is an orange oil available also that removes gunk. They sell it at Walmart.

no matter what you use it is going to take most of the finish off. the best thing to do is to go to home depot and get a product called zep in the paint dep. it will work on getting the stain off but it will probably take the polyurethane off too. so i would say you would have to re due the poly on the top of the table. good luck to you

i use windex for things like that, it won’t harm the wood, then be sure to use lemon oil on the, and let the oil set for about 15 mins. then wipe it off and polish it good. i have used nothing but lemon oil on my furniture and antiques, they need the oil to prevent them from gettting dry. espically durning the winter. you will be surprised how much it soakes into the wood…
