Can anyone help with the removal or cover of old pet urine stains?

I’m helping my brother prepare his house to put on the market. In the bathroom is a dark green carpet that has noticeable urine stains, which are old. Does anyone have any ideas? Dyeing products, anything that could help lessen the ugly factor other than buying new carpet. Thanks for the help!

Technically, if there is a seller’s disclosure law in your State, it has to be declared unless you completely remove the carpet, pad, and other effected areas. But if you choose not to do that, get some nature’s miracle and pour it on. It takes up to 30 days for the little enzymes to work. It will get rid of the odor… at least enough for you to put your nose in the carpet and take a big wiff. You get rid of the smell, and most buyers tear out the carpet within 6 months of owning anyways..LOL. But it is a bathroom, rip the carpet out and clean up the floor and lay some stick vinyl tiles down. Cheap fix and a lot better than carpet in that room and updating all in one!

Yes use folex carpet cleaner, it’s sold at walmart. Moisten carpet and drench with folex, then scrub off. should do the trick!

To eliminate the odor as well as the stains use Nature’s Miracle. It is an inexpensive way to either treat the stains individually or buy it in the gallon size for a carpet cleaner application. It is a non-toxic, natural enzyme that breaks down the bacteria in urine that both makes it smell and attracts dirt and dust to make a stain. If I were you and putting the home on the market, I’d use the carpet cleaner application just in case there are some areas that have been stained that you cannot see. Plus, using the machine ensures that you get all the way into the padding and won’t "walk up" the urine to the surface. I have yet to see a pet stain old or new in my home or my rentals that Nature’s Miracle didn’t remove.

carpet needs to be removed and sub floor clean, or oder will still be there. If you cover up a problem, the buyer can sue later.
