i recently got clear braces and was told not to eat any tomato sauces and soda and tea and coffee to stop them from staining. but i was wondering if anyone knew whether chocolate or chocolate drinks would stain them too?
any experience or suggestions or any other foods you know of that would turn them yellow would be appreciated.

Anything can stain your braces…to prevent that eat what you want, but make sure you rinse your mouth with water afterwards. You should also make sure your brush 2 times a day. If you could also keep a small brush with you all the time then just scrub your teeth after you eat really fast…you should be ok. Good luck

the braces themselves shouldn’t be staining…
it’s the bands you’ve got to worry about.

I hate to tell you this, but a lot of things can and will stain your clear braces. I almost got clear braces, but then I found out that a lot of people complained that they end up looking like you just have some gunk on your teeth. So then, I was going to get the white ceramic braces, when I was told they take longer because you can’t tug on them as hard as with the metal ones. So I ended up just going with the steel braces, and they look fine anways, really. They’re so small nowadays that they look like little teeth jewelry. It’s nothing. You should’ve went with the metal, they’d be off sooner and they’re easier to keep clean!

If by "clear braces" you mean clear rubber bands, then just eat whatever you want, but don’t forget to rinse your mouth out 3 times after every time you eat. Almost anything can stain them. But if you mean those "Invisaline", then you can just remove them, and then rinse after you eat.

Middle eastern Indians are taught to practice excellent dental hygiene. They practice this same method. Their teeth are perfect! Good luck!

I don’t know about clear braces, but chocolate and coffee turn your teeth yellow over time. Tobaccos stains teeth yellow like you ccan’t imagine. I can usually spot a chronic smoker by just looking at their teeth and the grey bags under their eyes.

I have steel braces and they don’t look so bad. Sure beats the way my teeth looked like before I started wearing braces. At least my teeth on top are straight and the ones below will probably look pretty good by November. I’ll be off them around Spring 2008, so I guess steel braces really do work faster.
