This site has some great ideas. They have been tested, so they should work.

you could try borax powder mixed with water, or try straight white vinegar

I use Resolve Carpet Cleaner on my stains, and that stuff works great! Just don't dry the shirt until the stain is out, or the stain will become permanent! Another suggestion is bubble bath, it seems to take stains out great too, no specific brand or anything, i think all bubble bath was created equal. Good luck.

umm…. if its a white shirt bleach it or use orange juice straight from the orange that works too, that's an Russian home secret

My opinion is that you CAN NOT remove rust from your shirt. Like how you can't 100% move rust from an object. So my answer is that you should either throw away that shirt or buy another blue shirt that's 100% cotton.

Try spraying on that CLR cleaner. It contains Oxalic acid that will take the rust out of the shirt, just as it takes it off plumbing fixtures that have rust stains.

I would be careful with anything you decide to use. I would suggest Whink Rust Stain Remover, but I'm not sure it wouldn't remove the dye from 100% cotton.Whatever you decide to use, test it in a place where any damage will not be seen.
