Cleaning carpets with laundry stain gel?

My brother recently moved out, and his carpet is a mess of embedded stains. I was wondering if it was alright to use clothing stain remover to get it out? Like the gel stain remover that stays on for five minutes then you wash it out. Is this safe?

I wouldn’t recommend using that because it is for clothes like it may be too strong or too weak.I’ve been through what you are going through .When I moved to my new house there were stains all over the floors from the previous owners pets."HOW TO REMOVE THE STAIN".

YOU WILL NEED : resolve carpet stain remover(the spray bottle, sold at any wegmans, tops, walmart, or any super store), an old towel, an old tooth brush, and water.Steam cleaner(optonal) and resolve steam cleaner carpet concentrate (also sold at supermarkets and is optional.

    1) First take a towel and water and wet the stain and scrub the water into the stain to dilute it if it is dried or not.

    2) spray the resolve on the whole area of the stain

3)scrub that stain like theres no tomarrow

4)stop when the resolve turns white from the bubbles and looks foamy

5)wipe the resolve away with a damp towel\

    6)repeat with other stains

7)(optional)Use the carpet stain concentrate and the stam cleaner to clean all the rug and dry the rug with the steam cleaner too and voila a perfect stain free rug.

A friend told me that her carpet cleaners said the best thing they had found for cleaning spots was a laundry product, something like spray and wash or shout, so I’m guessing any fabric stain remover would be okay if you plan to clean the carpet good afterward.
