Dried blood stain on down comforter?

best stain removercleaning suppliesjanitorial suppliesremoving stains

Unfortunately, it has been washed and dried already. But there are about 4-5 small blood spots that seem set in. It's a white down comforter, and the stains are on the very corner, so I can't hide them. I don't wanna have to throw out my expensive comforter for this! Any recommendations?

burn it get rid of the evidence ;-) jk

Your best option is a careful spot bleach probably.

or if it is more or less the same on both sides just flip it over.

Look in the laundry aisle for some stuff in a little yellow bottle. It's part of a line that is for different stains – one for ink pen, one for blood, one for ketchup. You get the idea. I forget the name. You could try a dry cleaner, too. I've had them do magic!

Hydrogen Peroxide is amazing for blood stains; the proteins in the blood will cause a bubbling reaction which loosens them, and also the peroxide itself, if strong enough, will cause a bleaching action. HOWEVER, peroxide can damage certain natural fibers like down feathers (and silk and leather). SO, if I were you I would use a little dropper to get the peroxide on the stain without penetrating into the down feathers. Give it some time to work; maybe an hour. Repeat the process a few times. It might not remove it completely if they are set, but you will see a significant improvement. Also, keep in mind that products like Oxy-Clean are hydrogen peroxide-based, so potential damage to feathers applies for those products as well.

Try putting some hydrogen peroxide on it.Then let it soak on there a while.Wash again with a little bleach, not hot water. Then dry well.I use to put Era Plus on any blood that got on my clothes. It always got it all out.Just put the detergent on it and leave for a while then wash.

Oxyclean and water Soak it in the washer for the day. The stains should come out. You might want to mix some Oxyclean and water and pretreat the spot before throwing it in the wash. It took blueberry stains out of a shirt for me. .
