i’d love to hear other answers on this as well. In my experience, the wine will stain what it can ‘soak’ into. like lip skin, and plaque, on and inbetween the teeth and on the toungue, since brushing right after will totally eliminate it for me. I have found that by flossing and brushing (teeth and toungue) very well before drinking, it minimalizes the ‘red wine effect,’ but doesn’t eliminate it entirely. the downfall to this, is that red wine is meant to be tasted, and toothpaste is meant to kill all taste receptors… so rarely will i do this, unless at a very public function where image is more important than taste. (specifically if it’s real cheap wine. haha!) lip gloss, or chap stick, or lipstick even, should prevent any wine from getting to the skin of the lips – although it will leave lip marks all over the glasses. chapped lips are the worst for staining.

so for now, my best solution is floss/brush a couple hours before. (even brushing 6-8 hours ago can leave a light layer in the mouth, and that’s all the wine needs to ‘stain.’

Drink red wine in candlelight! That helps. Also you might try a light coat of Vaseline on teeth. Not chap stick, that is usually flavored.
