Getting a blood stain outta sheets?

Heya I’m tring to get several blood stains outta my sheets. A few days ago my daughter cut her toe (she has Spina bifida so she has no feeling in her feet) and crawled in my bed. So now there is lots of blood marks all over them. Well i probably did the wrong thing by washing them in Hot water and putting lots of bleach in. Well I took them outta the washer and they turned pink lol (used to be Peach) I was just wondering if there is anything i can do to get the stains out. Since there are very expensive sheets for a deep fitted mattress, and I just bought not even 2 months ago lol. Thanks ^^
Thanks for all your great answers. I did try hydrogen Peroxide, soap, Baking soda, Vinagar, and lime juice, actually the vingar and soap got a bit out but not completely, it still left that yucky blood ring. So i tried diluted bleach and cold water and i scrubbed until my fingers were sore and nice and shiny and that seemed to work.. Now i jsut have to bleach the top sheet to get it the same color lol. Thanks for all your great answers they are appreciated!!!! Didnt want to throw away a 200 dollar sheet. Thanks again.

    If you go to WalMart or some similar store, they will have pens that have chemicals made specifically for getting out certain stains. One of them gets out blood, among other things. I’m not sure if it will work very well, on an already heated in stain.

    I’ve also found a few excerpts from the net…
    it’s best to remove blood stains as soon as you find them. Remember to always use cold water when removing a blood stain, as hot or warm water will cook the blood and set the stain making it nearly impossible to remove. Shampoo and cold water works really well to remove stains quickly. For blood stains older than 24 hours, soak the material in cold water for about 1 hour then get started on removing the stain as you would a fresh stain.

    To remove Blood Stains:
    Fresh Stains:

    Mix water with cornstarch, cornmeal or talcum powder to make a paste. Apply the paste to the fresh stains. Let dry and brush off.

    Dried Stains:

    Cover with meat tenderizer and cool water. After 15 to 30 minutes, sponge off with cool water.

    Blood stains on leather:
    Apply a hydrogen peroxide to the blood stain. After it bubbles, wipe it off.

    - Dishwashing detergent – A little dishwashing liquid goes a long way in stain prevention. Depending on the severity of the stain, either dilute with some water or use full strength and blot the stain to remove the blood. Once the blood is removed, blot again with a damp sponge. Launder the shirt as usual.

    - Club soda – Pour club soda directly onto the stain, let it fizz and blot until it disappears. Launder as usual.

    - Vinegar – Straight vinegar works wonders with blood stained clothing. Apply the vinegar directly to the stain and blot. When the stain is removed, blot again with a damp cloth to remove the smell. Launder as usual.

    - Baking soda – Mix one part baking soda with two parts water and blot the stain until it lifts. Blot again with a damp sponge to remove the baking soda. Launder as usual.

    - Peroxide – Apply straight peroxide directly to the stain, let it fizz for a while and blot until the stain is lifted. Blot again with a damp sponge and launder as usual. (Keep in mind that peroxide can bleach clothing. You may need to test in a hidden spot first.)

    - Glass and window cleaner – Spray glass and window cleaner directly onto the stain and let sit. Blot after about fifteen minutes to remove stain. Blot again with a damp sponge and launder as usual.

    - Soap – Regular bar or liquid hand cleaning soap works well. Run the garment under water with the soap and bring to a lather. Rinse until the stain and the soap have been removed. Launder as usual.

    - Saliva – It may sound icky, but spitting on blood stains seems to work.

    In most cases, soaking a garment in cold water is enough to remove a blood stain. Just remember these tips: always blot a stain, rubbing it will cause it to embed deeper into the fibers. Never apply heat to a stain unless you want it to be a permanent part of the garment and always tackle a stain immediately. This may be the difference between a wearable item of clothing or a contribution to your rag basket.

    But they all say the same thing–you should never use heat, because it sets the stain in.

    peroxide will get the blood out of your sheets
    pour it on and let is set for a bit before washing
    you could also try putting some baking soda in the wash

    Blot the blood with an absorbent cloth and then use a small amount of hydrogen peroxide and work it into the stain with a toothbrush or small brush.

    Next time there is fresh blood in clothing or fabric use cold water! My wife says you could try some oxy wash. Just soak it and see if you can get the stains out.

    well you take them to the cleansers next time try spray and wash .OK. then wash in cold water always never hot water.

    Try handwashing it with sweet soap (bar soap) or hand soap before you throw it in the washer or dryer (never apply heat to a stain, it sets it in) it should take about 30 seconds.

    Ya never shoulda washed them in hot water with bleach.. Bleach eats cotton and you already know it takes the color OUT of things. Blood always gets SOAKED in COLD water, add soda, stain remover (shout, Clorox Oxy)…then use some RIT color remover and try to re-dye the sheets. (may or may not work, it’s hard to cover up blood…hence the ‘blood always found at crime scenes’…) You may have to use a LOT Of dye. (dye needs HOT water and SALT to set it.)

    I doubt you can get them totally out now, but in the future try this. When the blood is still damp, put the article under COLD running water to get out as much as you can. Then rub HAND soap in and scrub it. Always use cold water.

    all of the above are great suggestions…and here’s another one,after washing it with cold water with bath soap (which you should have done in the first place) and the stains are still there,cut a pice of lime and extract the juice (don’t use lemon,lime juice is much stronger for the job) pour it drops at a time on all the stains then let it sit for a couple of hours,then launder again.white vinegar or cane vinegar is a great stain remover,too.GOODLUCK!!!!
