I don’t want to spend what Tide, Era, or Cheer costs. I do want something that smells great and removes stains. Any ideas?

There are a few good soaps that don’t cost a fortune. I use Purex and always keep a bottle of spray OxiClean on hand. Between the two our clothes are always spot free, crisp with color and clean.

I wear darker colored clothes but i found that If you buy the cheer or whatever brand that’s for dark or black clothes they come out quite clean and fade free…. it doesn’t really matter what brand as long as its the one for dark clothes.

If you happen to have this brand, I use Purex laundry detergent with bleach.

For regular detergent, Arm & Hammer works pretty good. If you’re specifically looking for a detergent for infant clothes, stick with Baby All or Dreft. They won’t wash out any flame retardancy the clothes have, while regular detergents will.

I use purex wtih shout, and I usually will buy the good fabric softener. The fabric softener is what makes it smell good. i was cheap this last time i did laundry and got purex and suavatel for the softener and it smells great!

ALL, or Arm and Hammer…..Don`t use surf, the powdered kind leaves a residue on your clothes.

I use all free, but I do not think the kind of detergent is the issue, the issue is how you use your detergent and how you do your laundry. What you and everyone reading this should realize is that the amount of detergent the directions say to use is wrong. I use half the amount specified making the detergent last longer. Also i wash only in cold water. I also sort my clothes by color and fabric type, ex. jeans together, white and light colored Cotton shirts and pants together, dark colored cotton shirts and pants, heavy sweatshirts and sweatpants together by color. Because I have a family of six, i wash an entire load of just socks, those I bleach and wash on hot with cold rinse. I use my dryer only when it is necessary, like raining or wintertime. I hang dry clothes either on a clothesline outside in the shade (sunshine fades colors and turned whites yellow) or on hangers inside my home. By doing laundry this way I have found that our clothes last longer and stay new looking longer. Trust me I do a ton of laundry and when it comes to laundry detergent and loads of laundry remember… less is best.

I’ve tried the cheaper brands and found that I need to use more detergent to get the clothes clean. I stick with Tide liquid. You can use less than directed and the clothes come out clean and smell good and fresh. If you watch the sales you can buy it at a very good price.
