Haven’t tried that sorry, but Bicarbonate soda and water is brilliant for getting rid of cat urine. The stain and smell.
    It worked brilliantly for me.

    Hope this helps, good luck….

I would not use Goo Gone. I can’t think of an alternative off the top of my head but you could consider a laundry detergent solution.

You don’t mention what the carpet is made of.

When I used to have indoor cats we would use Oxygenated cleaning solutions mixed with carpet cleaner. Goo Gone will just mask the odour, not remove it. I also suspect that it might damage some types of carpet too.

I really don’t recommend it because of the smell that will be left behind…Goo Gone has a pretty strong smell: lemon-scented petroleum distillate, to be more precise. You won’t like it when it permeates the air and you can’t get rid of THAT.

I have provided some links for getting urine smell out of carpetting. I’ve never tried any of them, as, amazingly, the one unneutered male I had in my house used the same spot…an old bookbag…which, when I found it and washing in the washing machine, fell all the heck to pieces…pretty corrosive stuff, apparently…heehee!!!

    Good luck and God bless!

Here is a site that I would highly recommend. They have very high quality stain removal techniques. I would suggest repeating the process after the first application, and rinsing the rug out with cool water in between applications. Best of luck!
