HELP! Orange Kool-Aid stain on carpet, how do I get it out?

best stain removercleaning suppliesjanitorial suppliesremoving stains

My oldest son, who’s 2 yrs. old, spilled an orange Kool Aid packet on my carpet and then he peed on it (looonnnggg story). I’ve used a steem cleaner and some of it has come out. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on how to remove or lighten the stain? The stain is in the middle of my living room carpet and my carpet is beige.

the best thing to do is only treat it once. any other application of a blanket cleaner is going to possibly make the stain color fast.

Use this, it’s what the pros use and people pay big money. plus it’s green

Aren’t 2 year olds fun? I have a son too (thankfully he’s almost 6….and still clumsy like his mom!)
First of all, bleach is out if the question. Don’t go near it!
Vinegar is VERY effective for cleaning stains and removing odors. put some in a spray bottle, or use a clean cloth with vinegar on it and scrub!
Baking soda is also quite useful for odors…but don’t use them together, they neutralize each other!
    Good Luck to you!!

Oxi-clean. You pour it on, and the stain disappears right before your eyes. I have 3 kids, and have had to remove many Kool-aid and grape juice stains in my life.

if you go to the dollar general store, there is a cleaner called awesome that works wonders especially with 2 kids of my own.

Here is a site that I would highly recommend. They have very high quality stain removal techniques. I would suggest repeating the process after the first application, and rinsing the rug out with cool water in between applications. Best of luck!

I have a bottle of SPRAY n WASH with RESOLVE in my laundry room and I’ve used it on my BERBER carpet with excellent results….! My 2yr. old got into my make-up bag and spilled a brand new bottle of LIQUID FOUNDATION about the size of a dinner plate on the carpet! I used my WET/DRY shopvac.. Removing the paper filter for wet spills and just used the spray n wash and reg. detergent.. It took a bit of elbow grease but, you can’t see the stain at all!

If the area is still wet.. BLOT up whatever you can with thick towels.. Keep blotting until nothing comes up.. I used my wet/dry shopvac as an extractor.. I got a bucket of cool water and dampened the stain.. Then sucked up the water with the shopvac…. I kept doing this until the stain appeared to not come up anymore.. Then I sprayed the carpet with the pretreater… Let it sit and wet with cool water.. EXTRACTED etc….

    Good luck
