How can I get a black grease stain out of a red cotton baby shirt.?

This was an item ordered off of ebay. When it arrived it was in a second makeshift packaging from the postal service. Upon opening the package we found a HUGE thick black grease stain on the shirt (almost as if it had been run over by a truck).

It is an adorable shirt and I’d hate to throw it away. Please answer only if you’ve had a similar stain and have had success with your remedy.

gojo (or generic brand) hand cleaner. this is to remove automotive grease from hands. it is found in the automotive section of your local store. just smear it on the stain and rewash.

Dawn for dishes really cuts grease. Put it on, let it sit a few hours. Rinse only with cold water, only air dry. Repeat until stain is gone. Don’t put the shirt in the dryer until the stain is gone.

Repeated washings willl lighten stains. Toss this shirt in the wash with every load you do.

If you don’t get the stain out, applique a flower or something over the stain, if you feel like getting crafty, although it sounds like the stain is pretty big.

There is a product in the automotive department at Walmart called "SuperClean". It comes in a purple bottle. If you buy this and mix it a little stronger than the bottle tells you for laundry fighting, it works like a dream. You spray it on the stain, let it soak for awhile and then wash it like normal in the washer. Perhaps with baby items I would wash it with a regular load instead of baby items and then wash it again with the baby soap. I have yet to not be able to get a stain out using this and I have two tweens!

Try Anne French’s Cleansing Milk, the stuff you use on your face.

You’ll be surprised how Anne French’s Cleansing Milk can remove some of the tackiest grease and oil paint. I once lifted up a puppy that got its underneath paws wet with red floor paint. I went berserk after seeing red pawprints on mynew blue top. I tried in vain to remove pawprints with turpentine, white spirits, whatever else. None worked until I tried Anne French’s Cleansing Milk. It’s worked.
