I have had good success placing a brown paper bag (normal type, not waxy type obviously) or a sheet of paper towel over the material and ironing over it for a few minutes with a warm iron. The heat from the iron will lift the wax whilst the paper bag/towel will absorb it. Once you have absorbed all you can from this method, sprinkle a little plain flour over the stain and iron over it. This will absorb all residual wax. Of course you will need to wash your sweat pants again afterwards, but I tried this unusual method a few weeks ago on my good jacket and it worked a treat! Good luck.

if its the wax stuck to the pants try freezing it with an ice cube then scrape it off.

Try a warm iron and paper bag. It works on carpet but i dunno bout sweats. Put bag on stain and iron on bag, the heat draws the wax into the bag, or you could just get new sweats @ like 5 bucks in Wally World.

Thick paper both sides of the stain and a hot iron with the steam switched off. The heat will melt the wax and be absorbed by the paper, keep changing papers' position and heating until you got it all out, then put a squirt of washing up liquid neat in the stain and rub it into the material, after than pop in washing machine and wash as normal.

Apryl is right…. warm iron , but I use newspaper to blot up the wax….its probably easier anyway. So put waxy side against newspaper….and iron gently!
