    hand wash ?

  3. Maris says:

It should come out with Shout. I wouldn't wash it until you're finished. The yard you wash may shrink, so when you add yard to complete it, the two yards won't match.

  4. stevey_32 says:

i would for now pre treat with something like shout. finish the afghan and then either hand wash or wash in machine on delicate. should come right out. use fabric softener and dry on low or air dry and should be good as new.

here is a link that may help.

Check the label on your yarn. I'll bet it is a washable yarn. Finish the afgan before you pretreat. Some pretreat products should be washed right after use.

  7. The Laughing Man says:

If your crochetting there's only one way to go…
    burn it…
i'm not sure if it's going to get the stains out…but it will get rid of them

  8. Minerva says:

As a fellow knitter and crocheter, I would say that it all depends on the fibre in the yarn.

If it is all acrylic/manmade, you can sponge it with a damp cloth, if you're bothered by looking at the stain while working. In any case, it will come out easily when you've finished the Afghan and washed it gently, by hand, preferably.

If the yarn has wool, mohair, alpaca, cashmere etc in it, I would wait till you have finished making the Afghan, then soak it in lukewarm water and a little washing up liquid, for 15 minutes or so. Very gently squeeze the stained area, to aid removal – don't twist or rub it. Rinse in cool water and spin on a short spin. Air dry. (There should be washing instructions on the yarn label, but use your judgment, because crochet is often fairly open fabric and you don't want it to become felted).

    Good luck!

  9. Yoda Pirate! says:

if its ok to do this on the yarn; I think i'd just steam the stain out… hold it over warm steam and sponge the coffee out.
