    At the super market they have what is called Rust Out, cheap and it works.

    Most acids will dissolve rust. I would use a mild acid such as vinegar (acetic acid). Pour some, undiluted, in an inconspicuous spot to test for color fastness. If OK, treat the spot by pouring undiluted onto the area. Agitate slightly with a white cloth. Let remain on the surface for about 30 minutes. If the rust has not dissolved, try a second application. Rinse well with clear water (or if the fabric can tolerate it, wash it). Hope this helps.
