How can I get nail polish out of carpet and off the wall?

I just spilled purple nail polish onto my beige carpet and onto my green wall. How can I get it out with out bleaching or spreading the stain into the carpet and without taking the paint off of the wall? I have tried nail polish remover and soap and water. I’ve heard that laundry detergent might work, but I have yet to try it. Tell me what you think would work =] Thank you!!

    DO NOT put fingernail polish remover on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Am I too late? It sounds like from your post you already did it :(

    If you just let it dry, you can pick most of it out (or even cut it out of the carpet if worst comes to worst) but if you put remover on it, it ruins the carpet, spreads the stain, and makes it look ten times worse.
