How can I get out set in pet stains and sugar stains out of carpet?

I recently bought a government repo home. It has been vacant for at least a year to my knowledge. I have no pets of my own. I am looking for home remedies to clean pet and sugar stains out of carpet. I don’t want over the counter sprays because there are too many harmful chemicals and I do have 4 children. Can anyone help me?

    Get some Nature’s Miracle from you pet or hardware store. It contains natural stain and odor eating enzymes. For best results soak the stain for a few days and then follow with a steam cleaner

    i don’t know the name of it, but you should see something like it that will help in any supermarket. it is a foamy spray that you just put onto your carpet, looks like snow, and then you just vac over it, it is great, and it is fine for kids, so you don’t need to worry about that.
