How can I remove rug backing stain from carpet?

We just bought a home with a plush white carpet. The previous owner had a large rug on the carpet. When she removed the rug, it left a large, yellow stain that I presume is either rubber or glue. Any suggestions (especially real-life experience) with removing this type of stain? Thanks!

You can’t! Sorry, but what has happened is that they put a rug down with a vinyl anti-slip backing on it. The chemicals in that kind of backing "leak" and cause permanent damage (i.e.color change) to whatever’s under them.

The only real way to fix your situation is to have a carpet company replace the stained section of carpet with new matched carpet.

Otherwise conceal it by covering it with a rug of your own, piece of furniture, etc.

I think u should dye the whole carpet. Only thing I can think of. Sorry. Or get another carpet on top.
