How do I do laundry with liquid detergent?

So, I’ve only used powder laundry detergent before, and this’ll be my first time using liquid laundry detergent. Is it the same? I read the directions on the back, but I’m afraid that when I pour the detergent on the clothes, it’ll stain them or something! Dumb, I know. Do I pour the liquid all over the clothes, and in between them, like how you distribute the powder? Please help me! My clothes are smelly!

    Liquid detergents rarely stain your clothes, but it can happen on more delicate fabrics. It’s best to put the liquid detergent in first with a little water running, then load your clothes as usual. Use the measuring cup the same way you would with powder detergent.

    you always poor the detergent(liquid or powder) in >first< THAN add the clothes.Almost all manufacturers reccomend that in the manual that comes with the washer

    The manufacturers do advise putting all detergents in first, before the clothes. I do NOT like that method with powder because it tends to clump and leave gross residue on my clothes. With liquid it should not matter, it will dissolve into the water faster than a powder anyway. What I will recommend with liquid is rubbing a little of it into heavily soiled or stained parts of clothing before washing. Another tip for smelly clothes is adding just a little lemon juice to the wash. It boosts the action of the detergent. It can even be used as a bleach replacement for people who are allergic or sensitive to bleach.

    It is recommended to pour the liquid detergent first, let it mix with the water and then add your clothes. Otherwise the liquid could mark the fabric.
    Despite recommendations and all, I pour the liquid over the clothes and nothing happens! (most of the time, that is!)

    Follow the directions on the bottle. The detergent will not stain your clothes, it will clean your clothes. amazingly.
