How do I get a stubborn stain out of the carpet?

best stain removercleaning suppliesjanitorial suppliesremoving stains

I have tried all kinds of carpet cleaners: Resolve high traffic foam, 409 carpet foam, etc and LOTS of elbow grease! I even tried SHOUT stain remover usually used for clothing, but nothing seems to get it out. I’m not sure what the stain is from; it’s been here since I moved in. If anyone knows any good tricks or techniques that would be awesome! I appreciate all your ideas! Thanks!

Some stains are permanent. Bleach, Dye, Furniture Stains and there is no way to get it out. Now if you clean the stain and it goes away then comes back you have residue problem. Spotters like resolve, 409 etc have surfactants ( soap ) and when you clean the stain you remove the stain but you leave a spotter residue. Putting SHOUT on you carpet made it worse. Shout is concentrated. If you spray some water on the stain and use a brush and agitate the fibers you should get a white foam. You need to get rid of the soap by using a defoamer. If the spot comes out, but comes back call a professional carpet cleaner. Chem Dry’s number 800-chemdry Tell the technician to put defoamer on the spot. Have them Clean the area.

Once it is clean do not use carpet cleaning products that have surfactants. Club soda is what you can try first. It is pH 7 and has no dirt attracting residue.
Home Depot carries Stain Extinguisher from Chem Dry. It is the same formula we use.

    Good Luck.

Without knowing the source of the stain it is difficult to help solve it.

Club soda poured on straight and blotted works on lots of difficult stains. It’s cheap and you can pour the leftovers on your houseplants ( once it’s gone flat ).

If this isn’t successful try renting a carpet shampoo machine. This always works on our tough carpeting dirt.

I have dogs and sometimes their stains are the worst to remove. I use Woolite Oxy to pre-treat a stain and then go over it with a carpet cleaner. Usually an Oxy cleaner takes things out that other things won’t. The problem though, is that some cleaners will actually set the stain. You may have already set it in with some other cleaner. Call a carpet cleaning company and see if they can get it out.
