My dog chewed up a pen and there is a huge blue stain in the middle of our white carpet. How do I get rid of it?

You probably can’t get rid of all of it. If not, perhaps you can patch it if you can cut a piece of carpet from under a sofa or other piece of furniture. If done properly, nobody can tell.

if the pros were unable to help you, remove the stained portion & the padding below it and replace. keep pens away from the dog in the future. OR buy a rug to throw over the stain.

I like Chem-Dry Stain Extinguisher (16 oz container) from Home Depot. I also get a freebie container once a year from my local Chem-Dry franchise owner when they come to clean my carpets and upholstery. I like the product because it’s effective and because it only takes 30 seconds until you start blotting. When you blot, you need to use wads of white paper towels, or a clean, light-colored absorbent towel or rag that you can afford to throw out. As the towel get wet, shift it t a dry section and continue blotting. Since your stain is huge, though, I would just make an appointment with the Chem-Dry guy and have him come to clean the carpet. But, when you make the appointment, tell him about the ink stain so that he’ll be prepared. If you don’t have a Chem-Dry franchise in your area, then you can try another company, such as Stanley Steemer, but I’ve never used them personally. Just make sure that they have experience in dealing with ink stains. They will probably make you sign something limiting their liability in case they can’t get it out. It’s a white carpet, after all. Good luck. I hope you can salvage it. By the way, I was very surprised to hear that you have a white carpet in a home with a dog. White carpets and dogs don’t seem to go together.

Hi..i would try hand cleaner like the mechanics use. It is cheap and can be bought at Walmart or Canadian tire. Rub it on, let sit for a half hour, then clean as usual. (in this case, shampoo the carpet after the half hour) I use it for all kinds of stains.

Here is a site that I would highly recommend. They have very high quality stain removal techniques. I would suggest repeating the process after the first application, and rinsing the rug out with cool water in between applications. Best of luck!
