I spilled almost 2 gallons of wine on my carpet a few days back. I put a fan on it to dry it out while waiting for the carpet cleaner folks to come. It took them 2 days but they sprayed it with something and then ran their steam hose over it and, at the time, it appeared to be gone. However, that was 2 days ago and the spot is still wet, it started to smell moldy and it has come back looking a rust color instead of blackberry. The area of the stain has changed, it has increased. I did put some hydrogen peroxide on it when it started coming back. I got that idea out of a book but it may be the reason the stain has changed color. It’s been very wet here in Alabama for the past two days and that may be why it won’t dry out but the rest of the house has. What else can I do to get the stain out, get the carpet to dry and get the moldy smell out of the room?
