How do I get urine stains out of a twin size mattress?

One night my sister in law got my 3 year old son ready for bed and forgot to put a pull-up on him and left him in his regular undies and he ended up peeing in his bed and it soaked all the way through. I need any ideas on how to get the stain and smell out.

use a carpet cleaner that has upholstery cleaner attachment.

Try a mixture of half water, half white vinegar. Spray it on well. The vinegar smell will fade as it dries.

in the hotel industry, we would take a similar mixture and spray it on, the use a bissel handheld shampooer and scrubbed as deep as possible, and let it dry…you can also try scrubbing with a brillo type pad and soap/stain pen, but this prolly wont get all of it. (if it soaked through)

"Nature’s Miracle" is great. Pet stores carry it for pet pee and poop, but it works great for kids too. It is non-toxic and safe to use around pets and kids.

Sorry… but I’d get rid of that mattress faster than I can type this answer!!! I grew up poor and so we ALWAYS had some filthy, crusty, gross mattress that some family member passed on to us. It was creepy and sick!!! Now, whenever we buy a mattress, wether it’s for an adult, child, or baby… we KEEP the plastic cover on it, pull it tight, and cover it with a tight fitting waterproof mattress cover just in case!!! I can’t tell you how many times our son had peed in his crib or spilled juice on our bed… but I CAN tell you that all I had to do was peel off the sheets, wash’em, dry’em and VOILA!!! Clean, dry sheets for’eva!!! Oh, if the plastic under the sheets bugs you, get a pillow top cover, then you can’t feel or hear it; trust me this is sooo worth it!!! We’ve had our mattresses for 5 years and they are still spotless on account that they are still in their original case, no mites and dust gets absorbed either!!! Good Luck and best wishes!!!
