How do I get wood stain off glass?

I have a traditional-style coffee table with an inlaid glass plate on the top. I have sanded down the wood and applied stain to it. On the tin it says that brushes can be cleaned with white spirit so I had hoped to remove excess stain from the glass by wiping with spirit, but it does not come off.

  1. the truth says:

Use a sharp razor blade edge.

Hold it between your finger tips away from you and rest the edge onto the glass surface at a
    (low to the surface) angle.

Push it away from you toward the stain and it will come off like magic and will not harm the glass surface.

Look at the can of stain. It will tell you what the solvent is for that product (probably paint thinner for oil based stain). Use a soft cloth and rub it on the stain. Do not use steel wool or any other abrasive or you could scratch the glass. also try nail polish remover, wd 40

    Lacquer thinner works.

  4. Dan says:

small bit of white spirit, the stuff to clean your paint brushes with or a tiny bit of petrol will work
