The sooner you act, the better. Get enough white towels to blot it up. Do blot, and don’t wipe, as that will spread the stain. Start out dampening the towel with cold water, wring, and begin blotting. When it’s all lifted, blot with clean white dry towels as dry as you can get it.

It’s helpful to have two buckets, one with clean water and the other that you use to rinse out the towel.

If cold water doesn’t work, you could try a mild solution of water and liquid dish detergent.

Use peroxide, the kind you would use on the cut! Wet a cotton ball and keep putting small amounts on the stain, it will bubble up,then wipe it off with a dry towel. Repeat until the blood is gone.

Sweetie, Shout stain pretreatment is the best thing to get it out. Spray on the stain and let it on a bit. Then take a soft white cloth and keep working on it, rubbing from the outer part of the stain towards the center, so you don’t make it bigger. Keep treating with Shout and work on it with the cloth. Then, I use Oxy Pet Stain remover on that and again, keep wiping with the clean, white soft cloth. It’ll be a bit of work, but, the Shout will get it out.(On the sweatpants, spray on and rub the material together and spray again. Wait a bit till you wash them in Dawn dish soap! (Use the dawn sparingly in the washer)

Try using hydrogen peroxide. A nurse at the emergency room had told us to do this, after my boyfriend severly cut his hand. There was a lot of blood, and the peroxide got it out of everything including the carpet and the couch, but we did do it right away, so I don’t know if that will matter or not.

I think Oxiclean works best for every stain I’ve used it on. Not sure if I’ve tried it on blood, but I think it should work on that as long as you act quickly. I like the powdered kind the best because you can control the strength of it. It also comes in a travel size spray bottle that I NEVER leave home without (a billion times better than the tide to go pen) and a spray bottle like Shout and Spray and Wash which I think doesn’t work quite as well for the type of stain you are considering but is a great pre-treater for laundry.

I kindof like the hydrogen peroxide idea as well, except I might be worried that it would stain the couch white.

    Hope theis helps. :)
