How do I remove rust stain from ceramic loo?

Someone took the phrase spend a penny literally and dropped a copper coin in the toilet pan. By the time I retrieved it there was a rusty stain. How do I remove the stain? Bleach hasn't worked. Thanks.
I should probably add that the rust stain is under the water.

    A foot stone works well.They actually sell them for that purpose but they raise the price.I think in the us they are called bowl buddies.As I said you will pay more for the name a regular foot stone is priced lower.

    I have a rust problem due to well water and keep my "loo" bowl white by using a product called Whink, Rust Stain Remover. Comes in a brown squirt bottle. Can also be used on colorfast fabric and carpet. I swear by it!
