How do I remove rust stain from my pool?

I have an inground vinyl pool that some how has become stained with rust. Any way I can remove this without damaging my liner? Would clorox be too harsh even with water to dilute it?

    Well, the location of the stain is going to play a big factor in how you treat it.

    For instance, if it is above water, or at the water line, you might drain the pool just a bit, and use naval jelly, CLR (Calcium, Lime, & Rust remover), Lime-Away, etc. If the stain is UNDER water, then you do not want to use these products! If the stain is under water, I would consider using one of the Mr. Clean "Eraser"'s with some light scrubbing. Do NOT use anything abrasive as it will damage the liner.

    Someone has mentioned that a pool supply company has something to remove the stain, you may want to check that out too.

    clr you would have to reshock your pool if you use chlorine bleach…

    DEAR, I CLEANED MINE WITH BLEACH, AND IN SOME PLACES I USED AJAX AND A BRUSH LIGHTLEY….YES U R PRETTY, YOUR WELCOME..

    Nope it doesnt hurt to use bleach as long as you rinse it off really well but I would recommend Lime a way, seems to work wonders on rust and should work on that as well.. it's a great cleaner and at a good price… Hope it helps ya hun…

    I would be careful with clorox. Why not try Mr. Clean Eraser first? It can't hurt.

    Hi my mom has the same kind of pool and she had the same problem when she moved in from the other owners of the pool! the best thing to do instead of mixing a bunch of chemicals and harming ur self or the pool would be go to ur nearest pool supply store or even a wal-mart anywhere that sells pools and they have a special chemical just for ur problem! May be a little more expensive but not as much as if u use the wrong thing and ruin ur pool or ur health! Hope this helped ya
