How do I remove soy or teryaki sauce stain from my skin?

best stain removercleaning suppliesjanitorial suppliesremoving stains

I was cooking over the weekend and didn’t notice until many hours later that i have a large, bright yellow stain on my palm, presumably from soy or teriyaki sauce (the only other liquid I cooked with was balsamic vinegar). I have tried to remove it with several kinds of soap, bleach, Mr Clean, Windex, Pine Sol, Lysol, Shout laundry stain remover, baking soda, dishwasher detergent … NOTHING works. It hasn’t even come off a little bit. I’m completely baffled! Help?
Thanks everyone for all the great suggestions. :-) I have since tried baby oil, lemon (both real juice and out of the squeezy plastic lemons) and nail polish remover (acetone) … and none of them worked! (And yes, since the stain happened yesterday evening, I’ve had a hot shower and tried to scrub it off, no luck!)

I can’t imagine what else it could be if not teriyaki/soy sauce — my palm was clean before I started cooking dinner and I noticed the stain just before I sat down to eat. I used very old bottles of teriyaki and soy sauce, however, imported from Japan with all the characters on the bottle in Japanese, so I can’t decipher if there’s an expiration date. The lid of the teriyaki sauce in particular was really sticky with sauce and I’m pretty positive this is what the stain is from.

I will try WD-40, Goop and a Tide Pen tomorrow — thanks again for the ideas!

Can you wash it in the washing machine w/ regular detergent? Soy sauce comes out of my shirts all the time, b/c I’m a slob when I eat Chinese ;-) . I’m usually in cotton or cotton/poly blends.

The TIde Pens work well too.

  7. shaynaw20 says:

Are you sure that’s what it’s from? I would think it would was off easily. You may just have to let it wear off if nothing has worked.

Have your tried lemon juice? Not from a bottle,as that usually is not real juice. Get a lemon, cut and rub the juice on the stain. May take several times for it to all disappear.

  22. Kriss says:

Nothing will remove it. Apply some olive oil+ Liquid paraffin(Light) in 1:1 ratio , so that skin remains supple and it will wear off in about fifteen day. Alternatively you May use Quinoline (A chemical and use it with extreme caution as it May cause irreparable damage)

  24. laurabelle_25 says:

There is a product called Listoil or Lestoil (i cant remember exactly how it is spelled), but I have gotten several types of stains out with it, on fabric and stains left from oil on my hands after changing the oil in my car. Take an old toothbrush or scrub brush and scrub the stain on your hand with the Listoil, hopefully it will work. That is what I use to take stains out of a lot of stuff.

when nothing seems to be working, why just let it disappear by itself. i guess you won’t walk outside with your palm wide open. any way, soak your palm with cuticle remover. your palm will however turn pink- but it will be gone too with a lot of washing.

  36. kookiegirl says:

    try aloe
