Okay, I have a fairly new mattress that I always cover with a plastic liner just in case my daughter has an accident…well, the one time I don’t make the bed up in time, she falls asleep and wets the bed! Ugh!

I now have a stain on my once stain-free mattress. How do I remove the stains??? HELP!

Had an accident? Here’s how to fix it.

    Steps
Dampen the affected area, but do not saturate it. Wetness spreads the urine.
Heavily sprinkle with borax like a shaker would; cover the whole area.
Rub borax into the mattress. Work borax into spill or stain well.
    Vacuum up the powder.

    Tips
Use a liquid proof mattress cover to prevent stains from occurring.
Use remaining borax to boost laundry.

    Warnings
Borax is anhydrous and toxic so wash your hands with lots of soap and water and do not rub your eyes or touch your face.
Keep children away while you are working.
    * Abandon all hope if you have a latex foam mattress, they act like giant sponges and are almost impossible to remove stains from as the liquid that would remove the stain is simply wicked deeper into the foam

They make urine removal cleaners, but I usually find them in pet stores or in the pet department of stores.

This website gives a step by step procedure using hydrogen peroxide. Too long to post here.

Well I would sugest getting an Shot Spot stain remover bottle and following the directions on the bottle. Then you should use a disinfectint spray on it to remover any other urine sells and bacteria still on the mattress and then scrubbing it down REALLY good. Put a Air Wick auto propel fan thingy by the bed just in case. Buy a plastic cover to go over the mattress so just in case if there is any more accidents you can just wash it off and be done! No stains forever.

I had this problem too, I used the upolestry attachment for my shampooer and cleaned the mattress well using odo ban, let it dry then got a product called OUT that is made for pet stains and odors {can be purchased at Walmarts pet section} then sprayed the top of the mattress with it until the top of the mattress looked wet, let it dry and it smells fresh and clean with no stains.
