There has been a small blood stain on a pillow on my couch. It has been there for about two weeks. What is the best way to get it out?

There is only one solution: Color the rest of the couch with a red marker.

I’ve used meat tenderizer–the powder kind you get off the spice rack. Get the spot wet, sprinkle some powder on, use a little more water to make kind of a mushy paste. This might not work cuz the stain is old. Try the peroxide first.

Do you know who bled on the couch? If so, have that person spit on it. I know it sounds gross, but it work because the person’s saliva is able to break down their blood.

I learned this while sewing. If you prick yourself with a needle and get blood on your fabric, the first thing you do to get the blood out is spit on it and blot it out. If the fabric is a difficult sort which doesn’t respond to this technique then try other methods. (In personal experience, I’m usually able to get the blood out of cotton/cotton blends fairly easily.)

Other than that, I agree with the other people and the peroxide method.

Okay, did some research on About.com – the perfect solution for you, right here!

    "Blood Stain Removal
If the stain is already dried, try mixing a solution of dish soap, hydrogen peroxide, and water, and blotting the same way, though be careful, as the peroxide can act like bleach and may remove the color from your fabric as well. A 50-50 mixture of ammonia and cold water can do the trick also, just be sure not to use on silk, wool, or linens.

    Saliva for Blood Stains
If no one’s looking, you can always try using an old stand by: spit! Saliva contains a number of enzymes that can be helpful in breaking down blood proteins, and just a little bit can be as good a pre-treatment as any. I’d still recommend washing your clothes after all this, but that’s just me. "
