I have a plastic bathtub that unfortunately has a stain from hard water. What would you recommend to clean this? I tried using vinegar and it did not work. :(

I don't know if it will hurt the plastic, but I when I had this problem I used a mixture or baking soda and vinegar…while its doing its crazy foaming thing. I then scrubbed with an SOS pad.

It was sparkly like new. If you aren't sure about the SOS pad and the plastic I would see if a rough wash cloth and some dish soap would work.

    Bathtub Stain Removal
It's a sad fact of life. Bathtubs can take on stains, mostly caused by mineral build up from hard water. No one who handles bathroom cleaning should have to contend with bathtub stains. If you do find yourself with this problem keep this bathroom cleaning tip in mind: Use Borax for removing hard water stains.Just sprinkle some onto the offending area, let sit for a few minutes, and wipe with a damp sponge

Vinegar works on shower doors… :)
You need to get CRL (lime cleaner)… Make sure to get yourself a pair of plastic gloves and open a window, or turn the fan on and do not stay in the bathroom too long if there is not window with just the fan. Put the CRL after wetting the spots with water. Leave for 5 minutes to penetrate, and leave the bathroom for fresh air. Scrub with a brush and rinse. You may need to repeat the procedure.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: DO NOT PERFORM THE TIPS ON THIS THREAD BACK TO BACK THE SAME DAY, SINCE THE PRODUCTS ALL OF US RECOMMEND HAVE BOTH BLEACH AND AMMONIA, WHICH SHOULD NEVER MIX TOGETHER SINCE IT MAKES A FUME THAT WILL FILL THE LUNGS AND POISON YOU RIGHT AWAY. NEVER EVER MIX BLEACH PRODUCTS WITH AMMONIA PRODUCTS!!!!! THE FUME FILLS THE LUNGS AND MAKES YOU NOT BREATHE.

Get some CLR and put it on a spray bottle, the spray the stain. Don't allow it to sit full strength for more than about 30 seconds before you rinse it with water. As always, use common sense: wear rubber gloves, don't mix with other chemicals, yadda yadda yadda.

Use Zud or Barkeepers' Friend. Either have oxalic acid that will dissolve the mineral deposits.

Do not use a steel wool pad on a fiberglass tub.
