How do you clean rust stains off a white counter top?

The pizza pan sat on our white counter top for two days, and it was wet underneath. When I lifted the pan, there was a big black and orange rust spot! I was able to scrub the black part out, but the orange stain remains. How can I get this rust stain out of my counter top?

i’ve done that, I used comet. I got the stain wet, poured comet on it and let it sit for awhile, then got a scrubby and scrubbed it and it came off. Good Luck!

Next time you go to the grocery store, look for a cleanser called ZUD. It is by the Comet and Ajax. It is used in bars to keep the stains off counters. It works like a charm. I took rust, cigarette stains, and a host of other things off with this product.

Toothpaste and baking soda work great! It also worked for rust stains on my counter top. Just put the toothpaste on the stain first, then rub a bit of baking soda on top to make a paste. Leave on for a couple of minutes, scrub a bit, and it’s gone!
And these were old rust stains that I had tried removing various ways!

Coke..serious, it is used on rusty bolts and even car engines etc. Open a can of coke and pour some onto a washcloth and let it sit there. The stuff is even used to clean toilets…and we drink it.

Bar Keeper’s Friend will clean the rust off. It comes in a bottle like comet and you could probably find it in Ace Hardware or even Walmart’s. Good Luck!

You can try putting a piece of a lemon over the rust stain and see if that lifts it. Bleach probably won’t do it.

Oxalic acid will remove rust stains. You can probably get that at Lowes or Home depot.

soft scrub with bleach is amazing stuff, you can let it soak for 10 minutes or so.

Baking soda, a little lemon juice, and vinegar. Make a paste, leave it sit awhile and get it off with a nylon scrubber. Its great for burnt on pots and pans, too.
