I separate them into the following:
2 loads of colors (I have a lot of clothes)
    Darks
    Jeans
    Whites

With each of them, I wash with cold water.
I usually put it on ‘Large’ for the load size, except for whites, because I don’t have a lot.
For stains, spray the stain directly with a stain remover before you put it in the washing machine.

    1. Turn water on.
    2. Put detergent in BEFORE you put your clothes in, for preventing detergent stains on your clothes.
    3. Leave the water on until it become soapy and bubbly, but not too much.
    4. Turn off the water, and put your clothes in.
    5. Don’t fill it up too high, your clothes need room to move around when the washer is on.
    6. When you’re done, turn the water back on and close the door. I don’t use liquid fabric softener because I use the dryer sheets.

    1. For the dryer, pile all your clothes into the dryer.
    2. Use a dryer sheet.
    3. I usually turn it to 60 min because it dries the best. Push the on button and you’re done.

Make sure to always clean the lint trap out after EVERY load.
Don’t EVER mix whites with any other color, or jeans or anything!
If you have new clothes or jeans, wash them separately so the colors won’t bleed into your other clothes.

If you keep buying new clothes, you never have to do laundry!

Step 1: Separate your clothes into piles. One pile of lights (white, yellow, pastels, peach, khakis, etc.) and the other pile should be darks (jeans, reds, blues, blacks, etc.).

Step 2: Put the first pile into the washer. Decide how full the washer is and by that, set your washing time. Most washers are guaged by how full it is. Choose the fullness on your washer.

Step 3: Add soap. Measure the soap out according to the instructions on the bottle/box. Pour into washer. Some washers have a designated area to put soap in so it distributes evenly. Also, add liquid fabric softener if you don’t have dryer sheets.

Step 4: Close the lid and start the washer. Most washers have a start button.

Step 5: When the washer shuts off, take the clothes out and put them in the dryer. Add a dryer sheet sif you didn’t use liquid fabric softener. Set the time you want the clothes to dry and push start.

Step 6: Put the second load of clothes into the washer and follow steps 1-4.

Step 7: When the dryer is done, take the clothes out and clean the lint trap. It usually located on top of the dryer or right inside where the door closes. Be sure to clean this between each load or else you could start a fire!

Are we talking about laundry in a machine?

Laundry detergent should say on the side of the box or bottle how much to use per load. It should go in the bottom of the machine before the clothes, and you can start the water so that there’s something for the soap to dissolve in before you add the clothes. You just need a bit of water at that point. If you use liquid detergent you can use cold water, and that’s gentler on the clothes and saves energy. Powdered detergent needs hot water to dissolve properly.

In general, dark clothes (when they’re new) can leak colour onto other clothes, so wash dark things in one load and light things in another. You might want to wash jeans separately because their zippers and buttons can damage delicate garments.

Of course, check the tags on garments to see how they should be cared for. Some things should only be washed by hand, or machine-washed but not machine-dried.

When you load the machine, lay the clothes in lightly and don’t pack them down. If you just drop them in and let them settle around the agitator (the upright column in the middle of a top-loading washer), and fill the washer to the top that way, you won’t overload it.

Stains: the first thing to do is treat the stain as soon as possible after it happens. Rinse the stain in cold running water, and leave it to soak if you can’t do laundry immediately. There are also pre-treatment products that you can use to put on a stain when it’s fresh. In a pinch you can use liquid detergent or even dish soap. Just wet the fabric and rub the soap onto the stain on both sides. Let it sit for a while before washing.

There are also stain treatment products like OxyClean that are meant for soaking clothes prior to washing with detergent. I highly recommend these, especially for biological stains (as you may encounter around babies, animals, etc.). Just follow the directions on the tub.

I tend not to use bleach. Bleach is good for large loads of white sheets or cloth diapers. Otherwise, it can damage coloured clothing, and is a hazardous substance to work with. Above all, NEVER mix bleach with detergent, soap, or anything containing ammonia. This can produce deadly fumes.

Put the clothes in the dryer as soon as possible after the washer is finished. Otherwise (depending on air conditions in your house) they could get mildewed or smelly. If you’re hanging things to dry inside the house, hang them in a place where air will flow over them.

If you are serious about not knowing how to do laundry, here is my suggestion for first time launderers:

    1. Separate the clothes. Now this can be done a couple of ways but since this is your first time, I suggest reading the inside of the tags and putting like things together. All colds together, whites should be washed in hot water and jeans all together and if you don’t want the color to fade fast, I suggest turning them inside out.
    2. After you have the clothes separated, put one load in the machine. I like to put a cap of detergent inside as a pretreatment.
    3. After you start machine, depending on machine make and model, you can add detergent, bleach or whatever else you use.

I recommend bleach for white clothes which you should add after water starts going in. You don’t want to mess up your clothes by pouring it directly on your clothes.
    4. You will also be alerted to when you should add fabric softener.

I hope this helps. I don’t know if this is your personal machine, I use the laundromat so I have to put money in the machine first.

    Good luck!

    sort, sort, sort

    I make several piles

    towels
    whites/lights
    darks/black jeans
blue jeans get there own pile

stuff I’m really afraid to wash or dry I throw to the side to be dry cleaned I only have a few items like this.

if you have a downy ball add white vinegar as a fabric softner ( your clothes will not smell like vinegar. or use liquid fabric softner if you have it in the downy ball.

set the washer on perminate press or regular

drop that in the wash. start your darks on cold let the washer start to fill with water after it gets about 1/2 full add detergent and start adding clothes you want your clothes to still have room to move. Don’t cram them in.

Once they are done about 30-45 mins

put them in the dryer on perm. press or 30 mins if you want to add a dryer sheet that’s fine but if you used the vinegar in the downy ball or fabric softner it is not needed. it will just add a scent to the clothes.

Then do it all over again.
