Hey Heather, -don’t use roof tar, use tech-it comes in a white bottle with red grid pattern on it, I have gotten it at ace hardware-it works really good, but you have to use alot of it

I spilt a whole cup of coffee on my carpet a couple months ago… I made a mixture of oxi clean and water in a jar 1/2 cup oxi clean and 2 cups water. Dissolved the oxi clean and them pored it on the coffee, put a clean white towel on top and stepped on it. Then let it set there while I went to work. When I came home the mess was gone, and almost dry. Vacuum when dry. The stain never reappeared.

If the stain is set in then the liquid mixture will loosen it up again.

Have Mike get on his hands and knees and scrub. He should be the one that does the work, not you.

Mom 3 is correct. I had a huge dog pee stain on my rug. I didn’t have oxy clean but some cheap oxy spray on cleaner. I sprayed it on and wet it with more water, kept blotting and in the morning the stain was gone.

    Remove carpet stains

You can lift out many stains from your carpet with vinegar:
Rub light carpet stains with a mixture of 2 tablespoons salt dissolved in 1/2 cup white vinegar. Let the solution dry, then vacuum.

For larger or darker stains, add 2 tablespoons borax to the mixture and use in the same way.

For tough, ground-in dirt and other stains, make a paste of 1 tablespoon vinegar with 1 tablespoon cornstarch, and rub it into the stain using a dry cloth. Let it set for two days, then vacuum.

To make spray-on spot and stain remover, fill a spray bottle with 5 parts water and 1 part vinegar. Fill a second spray bottle with 1 part nonsudsy ammonia and 5 parts water. Saturate a stain with the vinegar solution. Let it settle for a few minutes, then blot thoroughly with a clean, dry cloth. Then spray and blot using the ammonia solution. Repeat until the stain is gone.

    Good Luck !
