How do you get a dried Kool Aid stain out of the carpet?

I have tried mild detergent and water, I have even bought carpet cleaner but it’s not getting it out!! It’s something my daughter spilled and covered up, I don’t know how long it’s been there…it looks like a kool aid stain but maybe it’s from a popsicle or something….

Hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. The oxygen in the peroxide works like oxy clean. Be sure to blot the stain dry instead of rubbing it.

Dear What? try some cool water and mild detergent…brush it around then blot it up, then repeat. Be good to use plain water at the end to try to get the soap out.

Soda will eat it up or use baking soda and then use clear vinegar it will absorb the stain.

I would use OxyClean. I mix it up according to the package, put it on the stain with a paper towel, and let it sit for about 15 minutes (you might have to try more than once). Then I take a damp paper towel and start dabbing it up. I usually end up with a patch that’s cleaner than the rest of the carpet. Our dog even chewed up an ink pen when she was a puppy and it took it out all the way down to the pad.

If the detergent didn’t get it out, its time for the big guns.

Mix equal parts ammonia and warm water (like 1 cup water 1 cup ammonia or however much you need). Wet the area. Get an old white towel (it will get kool aid on it) and wet it with the ammonia water solution. Lay the towel on top.

Get out your iron and turn it onto the Cotton setting and set it on the towel. You might want to move it every 30 seconds or so. Let it dry and you might need to repeat, but you will notice the color going from the carpet to the towel. Just use a clean part of the towel each time you put the iron down.

Its stinky and not fast work, but hey it works! (you might want to make sure it doesn’t remove the dye from the carpet as well by testing in the closet or somewhere inconspicuous.

***You might also be able to use window cleaner and get the spot out. I would try it first as its a faster solution than the iron and towel.

Vinegar. Vacuum it after 3 hours. If it still shows repeat and maybe brush. If it’s odorous use baking soda. This has a list of tips on rug stains.
