Pretreat with plain shampoo; hold overnight. Next day, wash with warm water and shampoo, rinse well, hang dry. Repeat if grease remains.

Do not use chlorine bleach or ordinary detergents like Tide on silks. They have a high pH and silks are damaged by pH higher than about 7.5-8. Shampoo has a lower pH, and is formulated for cleaning protein fibers.

Buy a new silk top because it’s not going to come out

  3. Kris L says:

Buy a bottle of club soda. Pour the club soda on the top at the stain. Rinse with plain water and do this until you can’t see the grease stain any more. It may take twenty times, but if you let the soda sit for about 15 minutes each time, and rinse thoroughly right away after, you should have the grease out in two or three days at most … doing the ‘pour, sit, and rinse’ for an hour a day.

Try putting baby powder on the stain, cover with tissues (2) and use a iron, with suitable temperature for silk, and put a bit of heat on the stain area for a couple of minutes, brush off the powder and check stain, and repeat if necessary,

  5. Gary S says:

spray affected area with resolve carpet cleaner, launder as usual. depending on how bad the stain is, this might need to be repeated
