We had an old sick dog who urinated on the rug several times; we had the rug cleaned but the smell is worse than ever.

    Have you tried fabreeze? That works for me. I have 5 small markers. It really helps.

    Im a veterinary technician and we get this all the time. You can use vinegar to get rid of the smell, but not the stain. For the stain you can go to petco or some animal store to get special carpet cleaner for stains.

    Fabreze may work. Might try dry cleaning it also.

    Aww….man! You might have to pull it up. My friend had that problem and they had to get a whole new floor.

    Throw it in the trash. I’ve tried on 2 separate rugs.
    I bought everything on the market, researched the internet, took everyone’s advice and not one single thing worked.

    Vinegar and baking soda does the trick everytime. Make sure to check out a small spot first for color fasteness. Also if that doesn’t work completly try peroxide with it just check for color fasteness.

    Nature’s Miracle. It’s the best. We have three cats and a dog and it has worked every time. Get the blacklight to find the spots.
    Some stores offer the blacklight if you ask. You can get it at Petco, Petsmart, etc. Some grocery stores even have it.

    Apply a WHITE towel saturated with white vinegar to the affected area and weight down with a flat heavy object and remove the next day.

    try club soda,just pour directly on ,let it sit for about 10 min.,then blot up with paper towels

    A good household product is WHITE Vinegar. Otherwise, you can buy an enzyme neutralizer at a Pet Store like PetsMart or PetCo. There are a couple of brands I could recommend .. SIMPLE SOLUTION or NATURES MIRACLE. Until you can get to the store, though.. I’d use vinegar (just make sure it’s the clear/white variety). Good luck.

    Since wool is hair I’ve always heard you should use a gental shampoo. It makes sense good luck

    Resolve stain remover works great, but it takes about 2 bottles. The vinegar does work too. Also you can use some of the scent removers you can find in hunting supply stores.

    Try a mixture of white vinegar and water- 3 to 1 with the water first. Blot and use a towel to dry-Repeat several times. This worked on my wool Persian rug.
