MArble is in fact a very porous stone.

That said, aquamix makes a product called "Poultice" which acts as a drawing sauve and draws trhe stain out of marble.

Dont expect to put it on and expect it to happen in a matter of minutes though.

You mix it to a tooth paste consistency cover it with wax paper and in all honesty may have to leave it on for a good 24 to 48 and quite possibly even 72 hours.I’ve seen the product work wonders on many stains, rust included.

Whatever you do….please DO NOT ever use even the finest of steel wools on your marble. Marble is as soft as it is porous and scratches more easily than it stains..

    Good luck

i dunno if it will help much for a 50 year old rust stain, but for my rust stains i use orange clean. works wonders.

Maybe CLR. Buy it at a drug store or home depot maybe.

cut out rust stain and install some really nice frosted glass and an accent light underneath it….. rust stain is now gone and a cool lighted glass spot in it…….

Try CLR or one of the oxy-clean products.

  8. Kimon says:

Forget it. Marble is porous material and it stains deep. The only thing you can try is to remove it and re-polish it.

i make stoneware pottery. some of the basins i make end up with rust stains. I’ve read the oxalic acid works. I’ve recommended it to my clients.

Marble is a pouris stone, stains are very difficult to remove, dont use chemicals or steel wool or scouring powder, refinishing it at a stone polisher, that will renew the surface and make it look like new….
P.S. Im a professional cleaner for stone, concrete etc… On high rise bldgs.

custom building products makes a stain remover for natural stone. home depot carries it. you put it on top of the stain and cover with plastic wrap. wait 24 hrs and it pushes the stain out.
