Grease is horrible to remove, it requires (in most cases) heat and a GOOD amount of rubbing. You can try blotting the bulk of it out with an iron (over soaking paper or old cloth) but you’re likely to have to be soaking in strong detergent (dont use bleach) and scrubbing till your arms are sore!

I’ve tried using the fancy soaks like napisan, but they do minimal work unless you really scrub n rub. Some detergents made to clean grease off driveways MIGHT work but I’d test them on a peice of not important cloth first and only use it watered down. It could be worse than the stain!

    get a product called GOOP
you can usually find it in the automotive section of major discount stores….mechanics use it to get the oil of their hands.
Apply the goop to the grease stain & let it sit no more than 10-15 minutes. If you let it sit too long & dry, you’ll have just spread the grease out to somewhere else. Wash as normal.

Check before you dry it…if it’s still there, you can try repeating if you haven’t dried it yet (heat sets the stain in).

Grease is really hard to get out. If you have the stain on light colored clothing, you may always have a stain. Use a stain remover on the spot and follow the directions for that product. Wash the clothes, but do not dry immediatly. If you see that the stain hasn’t been completly removed, use the stain remover and wash the clothes again. Keep repeating this until the spot is gone. Drying the clothes before the stain is removed can actually set it in the fabric and make it impossible to remove.

I use Dawn dish soap. It works very well if you rub it on the stain and scrunch it together for a bit. My spouse drives Semi and gets diesel fuel on her clothing on a regular basis. Before diesel it was cow manure.

The best way to remove grease stains from clothing is to rub in some liguid detergent over the stained area before throwing it into the washer. I think you will be pleased with the results.

It depends on what type of grease it is…Super heavy car grease is probably not going to come out very easily. You are going to have to work on it for a while. The trick is not to dry it in the dryer. Also, you might try some lye soap. I have given up on the stain cleaners that they sell in stores. My sister ordered some old-fashioned lye soap from a place called the Soap Hut/Soap Shack(?). She gave me some of the soap, after she heard me complaining that my 3 year old daughter’s clothes were not coming clean. The lye soap comes in bar form. I wet the bar and rub it on the stain. So far, almost everything has come out. Good luck!

SHOUT. I use shout on stains of ALL kinds. Sometimes I have to run them through a few times, like automotive grease & fluids or blood (stains that have set for days, even), but I ALWAYS use Shout.
