This will depend on the type of leather you have. Please check here if you are unsure:

If you have an unfinished (aniline) style leather and the ice cream or grease has soaked into the leather (leaving a dark mark) then it is unlikely that you will be able to ‘clean’ it out. Saddle soap will make the problem a great deal worse so should not be used.

If the mark is grease it would need a professional degreaser to remove it and this is best left to a qualified technician as they often remove colour with the grease.

It would be a good idea to clean thoroughly with a foam leather cleaner (all over not just the stained area) and this may help to dissipate the mark. Regular cleaning and protection will alos help to dissipate the stain over time. On unfinished (aniline style) leathers is it crucial to use a good quality leather protector like Ultra Protect whihc will help to inhibit this type of problem and make it esier to clean.

If the handbag is a finished leather then any stain should cleanable with a foam leather cleaner.

The only thing you can really do is get some saddle soap and rub it into the leather – even then you may still be able to see it somewhat, depending on how dark or bad the stain is.
