    spray it with shout and let it dry, that is the best way I have found.

    Ammonia will remove stains of the earth and that is what mustard is, but ammonia will not remove the fabric's color. Before you wash the item, spray it with shout or use a dab of dishsoap and flex it into the fabric. Rinse this, if the stain is lightened it will probably wash out with regular detergent and ammonia.

    Before drying in the dryer, check to make sure the stain is out. If not, repeat the above process, do not put it in the dryer with the stain still present! Automatic dryers will set the stain permanently.

    You can air dry it safely if you don't have time to continue working on it. Then as soon as possible work on it again.
