in some areas, the salt stains are a very visible white crust that is hard as a rock. In other areas, stains are not visible, but when you steam clean the carpet, and the carpet dries;
the carpet turns white.

    Have you tried club soda? Just a thought, not sure it will work. Club soda works for a number of stains.

    That’s why you use the carpet cleaning services that use some kind of bubbles/dry clean thing. Steam cleaning just temporarily fixes the problem. As you have it can even make it worse.

    I would call a rug cleaning service and ask. It’s possible the stains aren’t what you think.
