    if its water based stain use warm soapy water, if its oil-based use paint thinner, mineral spirits, terpentine or gasoline.

    It’s oil based, ya gotta use thinner or turpentine. Gasoline will work but its harder to get out…

    being a painter myself . i use paint thinner soak it up and keep claening it the brush i mean works like a charm every time for me!

    Water for water based, mineral spirits for oil based. Now if you have gone and made it dry and crusty get some deck stain remover from the hardware store. I used the kind that will not harm plants or grass. Soak the brush in it and clean with water after soaking. The brush will be almost like new. Works on all old brushes.
