The carpet is a sage-ish-green color and the stain is a hot pink color, it has already dried.

    I’m amazed at how many people are willing to pour solvent based chemicals on their carpeting….when they’d scream at a painter who did this, lol.

    Ok – if you use a nail polish remover with acetone in it – you WILL damage the carpet. It will ‘bleach’ stain most carpeting, and it can do it slowly over time. I once saw someone use a little to wipe up a nail polish spill – they tested it, and didn’t see any change in the carpet – they went ahead and cleaned up the spill with generous amounts of remover – and the next day – they had a huge blot where the carpet looked like someone had poured bleach all over it, hehehe.

    If the nail polish has already dried – you might try a hammer and putty knife. Use the hammer to break up the spill, and putty knife to scrape it loose. Be careful of the fibers, you don’t want to pull them a lot.
    Another option, and I can’t verify how effective it is – is to use a non-solvent based polish remover.
    Worst case scenario would involve cutting the spill out, and patching the carpet.

    Interior paint is actually easier to get out of a carpet than nail polish, hehehe.

    In the future, try to avoid situations where a spill can happen, and you’ll save yourself a lot of work. If a spill happens, get to it while it is wet, and blot as much of it up as possible, with a damp rag.

    try using nail polish remover it works wen i spill it on my desk but im not too sure about it on the rug still there is really nothing else

    nail polish remover you use first,then you take a bucket or bowl and put some water in add some white vinegar and a half cap full of fabric softener ..the water has to be warm..and clean the spot it will come out…if it is still giving you trouble add a teaspoon of sea salt..good luck..

    Test nail polish remover in a small spot that people will not see to make sure it will not take the color out of the rug, if it dose spray the area with the nail polish with windex glass cleaner and let soak for a few minutes then scrap stain with the edge of a spoon. Once stain is gone place a paper towel on the area and step on it to remove any dampness from rug and padding. Repeat using a new paper towel and continue using the paper towels until one comes up dry. I hope this helps.
