How (if at all) can I remove a set-in ink stain from khaki?

So today when i was wearing my favorite khaki pants I realized they have a small, but definately noticeable, blue ink stain. I know they have been through the washer and dryer before I noticed the stain (so it's set-in.) I tried scrubbing stain with hairspray and it still did not come out. I do not use Spray and Wash on khaki because one time I did and it ruined them. Any ideas?

Contrary to popular belief, hairspray does little to assist in ink removal; the alcohol in it helps some, but it can also cause damage itself (to the dyes).

Since the stain is set in, I am afraid you have low odds of success. However, try this:

    1. Lightly damped the spot
    2. Apply a drop of liquid dishwashing detergent
    3. On top of that, apply a drop of clear white vinegar

GENTLY massage that in, and let it sit for a few minutes, then launder as usual.

    Good luck!

There is a stain remover in a blue bottle for set in stains, I think it is shout but could be another brand. The bottle is about half the size of a regular spray-n-wash bottle and we have used that on set in ink stains with good results. You can test the stain remover on the inside of the clothing where it won't show if you have a color change to be sure the fabric can take it. Good luck :)

Try soaking the stain in milk for a few hours. I know it sounds weird, but it does work. Then wash the pants as usual.
