My daughter had diarrhea on the floor and there is a big dark brown stain on the carpet. How can I get rid of the stain?

Use an enzymatic cleaner-it will take care of most stains, and it will also "eat" the odor that may be left behind. One drawback: You have to saturate the carpet and let it dry on it’s own.

A GREAT stain remover is Spot Shot (get it at grocery stores, Wal-Mart, etc.). Use either or both. If the stain is fresh, I’d use the enzyme cleaner first (Kids ‘n’ Pets, Simple Solution, Nature’s Miracle, etc….available at pet stores or mass retailers-Target has Kids ‘n’ Pets, I know). If the stain is set, the Spot Shot would probably be the place to start.

I would highly recommend Spot Shot. If that doesn’t work use a Bissell.

Never use laundry products on your carpet as recommended above. Oxy clean Laundry Detergent will damage the carpet dyes. Do not clean this yourself, you will just take the stain down deeper into the carpet, carpet backing, and possibly the pad below the carpet. This stain must be extracted, rinsed and power vacuumed by a pro with a truckmount power plant. Go to http://www.iicrc.org., to locate a certified professional hot water carpet/upholstery cleaner in your part of the country. If this information is to late, and you all ready rubbed the stain down deep, still call the pro. He/she can flush the carpet with a special solution and extract with a tool called a water claw. Good Luck
