How to get rid of deep, set-in carpet stain?

So I moved an old box out of the way and found a stain underneath. Looks like a shampoo bottle (with some kind of orange-ish dye) leaked out of the bottom corner and directly onto the carpet. It's been sitting there for I don't know how long. Must have been a few months at the very least, maybe even longer.

Anyway, I've tried Spot Shot, Ivory bar soap and just plain water but the stain is barely fading. Any other suggestions for stains of this type? Or am I stuck with it?

Here is an incredible site that has a pull down list of many different stain removal techniques. These are said to be professional quality, and I have tried a few of them out, to much satisfaction. I would suggest repeating the process two times, rinsing the stain with warm water in between applications. Best of luck!

You might try Hydrogen Perioxide, just dampen the area with the peroxide and then try again, and see if the stain does not dissappear.

Make a paste with vinegar and baking soda and apply it to the stain and blot or scrub if you'd like. When it dries vacuum the area. You may need to repeat the process a couple of times.

Finger nail polish remover might. Your not stuck with it you can bleach it white then color it with dye, you can buy at Wal Mart in the Laundry area.

a steam cleaner over and over. Ypouca n hire them at the store. However be careful not to overdo a dark carpet as it will fade it eventually.

I had a halloween party once and a good friend of mine came as Carrie. It was also raining that night so I ended up with fake blood stains all over my carpet.

I rented a shampooer and put a little bleach into the solution. My carpets looked amazing after! And I had lots of stains from many years of partying.

Get yourself a white terry towel warm water dip it in the water and work it into the stain lifting the pilel You should notice dye coming off on the towel. There are professional carpet cleaning products that are very good for this ie Citra Gel. But be careful you work out to a uniform finish around the stain and surround area of it.

Your carpet is most likely discolored, if shampoo sat on it for months. The fact that it is not cleaning up, only confirms this.

You could try calling a carpet cleaner in to make sure about this, but I am pretty sure that that is what he will tell you. If you had a picture, I could tell you right away.

You could call someone who dyes carpets, and he could match it up for you, or you can put an area rug over it.
