I cut my leg while working in my garage today. I didn’t notice my leg was bleeding at first but later realized that my shorts had gotten blood on them. There khaki shorts and I tried soaking them but the stain is still there. How on earth do you get a blood stain out of khaki shorts? Please Help!

Just toss them in with your next bleach load they will be fine.

Seriously the khaki may fade a tiny bit but the blood will be gone and the entire garment will be the same color. If you spot treat them with peroxide it will bleach that one area. If the stain has set nothing will remove it but bleach.

Cold water works best to get blood out. Just try soap and cold water. After that, I would try just washing them in a washing machine like you normally would. Any time I’ve gotten blood on clothes that what I’ve done and it’s worked just fine.

If you didn’t completely wash and dry them, you should be able to get it out.

Soak the blood spot in Ammonia. Put some ammonia in a bowl, and immerse the blood spot on the shorts.

Put the bowl somewhere you don’t have to breath the vapors, as they are very irritating to the nose and to the eyes. (I put it in the bathroom, setting it in the tub, and close the door.)

After soaking about an hour, wash as usual in the washing machine.

    Hope this works for you.

    Good Luck.

Hydrogen peroxide mixed half and half with cold water ought to work. Test it on an inside seam or something to make sure it won’t discolor the shorts. Let it soak for several hours or overnight or even longer before washing. After that try OxyClean or something like it if it doesn’t work. If even that doesn’t work, maybe try making a paste out of washing soda, borax and a little water and applying it to the stain. If you can’t find washing soda use just baking soda or just the borax alone. I’ve heard it works, but haven’t needed to try it yet.
